5 Bible Verses To Help Parents In Bringing Up Their Kids

1. Education starts at home:
“Therefore, take these words of mine into your heart and soul. Teach them to your children, speaking of them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you get up.” Deuteronomy 11:18-19
Before you send your kids to the world to get the knowledge they need to live in it, lay a firm foundation of their faith in the Word of God. Teach them the Bible and share your personal testimonies with them. Thus, when they go to school, the system will not turn them away from the Lord.

2. Build up the personality:
“Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect. The new school year offers an opportunity to renew the mind by gaining knowledge.” Romans 12:2
Parents are not to rely on school for building up godly personalities of their kids. It’s not the school’s or the churches’ job to do that. It’s up to you, parents. So, teach your kids how to transform their minds into the pattern of God to resist the world.

3. Teach them to learn:
“For the protection of wisdom is as the protection
of money; and knowledge is profitable because wisdom gives life to those who possess it. Wisdom, understanding and knowledge are gifts of the Holy Spirit.” Ecclesiastes 7:12
Teach your kids to value knowledge and open mind being eager to receive it. Tune them up to learning and help them realize that schooling is the foundation for becoming wealthy and successful. Edify them also to
invest time and money into their education to be and to do more in life.

4. Set an example:
“And Jesus advanced [in] wisdom and age and favor before God and man.” Luke 2:52
We all need role models or heroes to follow in their footsteps. Let Jesus be their hero and make yourself their role models eager to learn and grow.

5. Teach them to discern:
“See to it that no one captivates you with an
empty, seductive philosophy according to human tradition, according to the elemental powers of the world and not according to Christ.” Colossians 2:8
Not everything they learn in school can be Godly.
Train your kids to eat the meat and spit out the bones.

"We will Defeat Senegal...." says Etebo Oghenekaro

With an all important semi-final clash against Host Senegal at the CAF U-23 African Cup of Nations, striker Oghenekaro Etebo  has predicted that the Olympic Eagles would beat Senegal and secure qualification for the Rio 2016 Olympics.

Although host, Senegal are yet to lose a match in the tournament, the Warri Wolves star player has assured that victory is achievable, when the two teams clash at the Leopold Senghor Stadium in Dakar tomorrow.
Nigeria finished behind Algeria in group B after winning one and drawing two games. Etebo who scored two goals from the spot, in their 2-2 draw against Egypt said:”They are the host team and they will be tough but that doesn’t mean we cannot win.
“We want to win the game so we can qualify for the Olympic Games and we know it will be a good game but they also know Nigeria will be tough for them.”
A win will guarantee Nigeria a place in the Olympics. Otherwise their fate will be determined in the third place match and may stretch to the play-off, if they fail to win that match as well.
However, Senegal defender Adama Nbengue said yesterday that they too were working so hard to beat Nigeria to secure the Olympic ticket and also qualify for the final.
“The fans have been so brilliant as they have been all through. We need them to be behind us so as to win the tournament for them and the entire country.”

According to a recent National Geographic feature on microbes, Staphylococcus aureus ‘lives harmlessly in the noses of about a third of us. But it can turn rogue, causing skin infections—or worse.’
In 1609 Galileo Galilei turned his gaze, magnified twentyfold by lenses of Dutch design, toward the heavens, touching off a revolution in human thought. A decade later those same lenses delivered the possibility of a second revolution, when Galileo discovered that by inverting their order he could magnify the very small. For the first time in human history, it lay in our power to see the building blocks of bodies, the causes of diseases, and the mechanism of reproduction. Yet according to Paul Falkowski’s Life’s Engines:
Galileo did not seem to have much interest in what he saw with his inverted telescope. He appears to have made little attempt to understand, let alone interpret, the smallest objects he could observe.

Meet America’s First Openly Gay Imam

WASHINGTON – He’s been condemned by other Muslim leaders, and some local imams have even refused to greet him. But Imam Daayiee Abdullah – believed to be the only openly gay imam in the Americas – is proud of his story. He was born and raised in Detroit, where his parents were Southern Baptists. At age 15, he came out to them. At 33, while studying in China, Abdullah converted to Islam, and went on to study the religion in Egypt, Jordan and Syria.
